Barkley the Cat is a Taiwan-born original character brand created by Golden Bell Award-winning director Li-Wei Chiu. Loved for its warm, distinctive character appeal and high-quality content, the brand has received recognition from both local and international awards.
In 2015, Director Chiu partnered with Longma Creative and Studio2 Rabbit Creative to establish Barkley the Cat Co., Ltd., with a mission to advance the character economy and expand the diverse applications and market value of original IP. The brand’s first feature-length animated film, *Barkley the Cat*, was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 54th Golden Horse Awards and was theatrically released nationwide in Taiwan in 2017.
Beyond screen content, Barkley the Cat has collaborated with well-known brands such as Formosa Watch, Nestlé, Hanlin Publishing, Yoshinoya, Hi-Life, 7-ELEVEN, and FamilyMart. Through licensed products and marketing campaigns, Barkley continues to grow its brand influence and demonstrates the potential of Taiwan’s original character brands.
In 2023, the brand launched its YouTube channel *Barkley - Nursery Rhymes & Kids Songs*, bringing Barkley’s joy and companionship to even more families and young audiences around the world through digital content.
